Emergency & Same-Day Garage Door Repair
Some garage door problems can wait a few days. These cannot: your car is locked in, your house is standing open to the street, or the door is hanging in a way that is not safe to be under.
What counts as an emergency
- Your car is trapped inside and you need it.
- The door is stuck open and the garage — and often the house — is exposed.
- The door will not lock or close properly.
- The door is hanging crooked or looks like it could fall.
- A spring snapped and the door is jammed.
- A cable snapped and one side has dropped.
- The door came off its track.
- Something hit the door — usually a vehicle.
- The door closed on something and will not reopen.
What to do right now, before we arrive
If the door is stuck OPEN: do not pull the red emergency release cord. If a spring is broken, that cord is the only thing holding the door up. Pulling it can bring hundreds of pounds down instantly. Leave it, keep everyone clear, and call us.
- Keep children and pets away from the door. First thing, before anything else.
- Do not keep pressing the button. Forcing a jammed door bends tracks, snaps cables and strips opener gears. Every press makes the repair bigger.
- Do not try to fix springs or cables. They are under extreme tension.
- Do not force a crooked door up or down.
- If the house is exposed, lock the internal door between the garage and the house until we get there.
- Take a photo or short video if you can do it safely. It helps us bring the right parts.
What we do when we arrive
- Make it safe first. Before anything else, we secure the door so it cannot fall.
- Get your car out if that is the urgent part.
- Find the actual cause, not just the symptom.
- Repair on the spot where we can — we carry common springs, cables, rollers and hardware.
- Secure the opening if a part has to be ordered, so your home is not left open overnight.
Same-day service
Most days we can get to you the same day. It depends on when you call and where you are.
- Durham Region — Ajax, Pickering, Whitby, Oshawa. We are based in Ajax, so this is our fastest area.
- Toronto, Scarborough, Richmond Hill, Brampton — same-day is often possible, traffic depending.
- Peterborough — normally by appointment. Call and we will tell you honestly what we can do.
Call as early in the day as you can. That single thing makes the biggest difference to whether we can reach you today.
We will tell you straight
When you call, we will tell you honestly whether we can get there today. If we cannot, we say so — we would rather you called someone else than sat waiting on a promise we could not keep.
You also get the price before we come out. Nobody should be negotiating cost while their car is trapped and their house is standing open.
Emergency & Same-Day Garage Door Repair — your questions answered
My car is stuck inside. Can I lift the door myself?
With a broken spring, please do not. The door may weigh over 200 pounds with nothing holding it. Call and tell us the car is trapped — we will prioritise you.
Can you secure my garage if it cannot be fixed today?
Yes. If a part has to be ordered, we will not leave your home open. We secure the opening and come back to finish.
Do you offer same-day service?
Most days, yes, depending on when you call and where you are. Call early for the best chance. Durham Region gets the fastest response since we are based in Ajax.
