Garage Door Repair
When a garage door stops working properly, it is rarely the door itself. It is one of the parts that moves it — a roller, a hinge, a bracket, a track, a cable. Find the right part and most doors can be fixed for a fraction of what a new door costs.
That is the work we do most. Repairs and parts replacement across Ajax, Durham Region, Toronto and the GTA.
Signs you need a garage door repair
- The door is off the track, or one side has come out of the rail.
- The door hangs crooked or moves unevenly.
- It sticks or catches at the same point every time.
- It shakes, grinds or bangs when it moves.
- A panel is dented, cracked or split.
- The door will not close all the way, leaving a gap at the bottom.
- Hinges are cracked, or you can see bent metal on the track.
What we repair
- Tracks — straightening bent sections or replacing them where the damage is too far gone.
- Rollers — worn steel rollers swapped for quiet nylon ones with sealed bearings.
- Hinges and brackets — cracked hinges and rusted bottom brackets are common on older doors.
- Panels — individual sections can often be replaced instead of the whole door.
- Weather seals — the rubber strip along the bottom, plus the side and top seals.
- Doors off track — refitted, realigned and rebalanced.
- Locks and handles — on manual doors.
How a repair visit works
- You tell us what it is doing. On the phone, or with a short video. This lets us bring the right parts.
- We inspect the whole system. Not just the obvious fault — the door, tracks, springs, cables, rollers and opener.
- We give you the price. Before anything is touched.
- We do the repair. Most jobs finish in one visit.
- We test and rebalance. Then show you what we did.
What affects the price
We give you the number up front, but here is what changes it:
- Which part failed. A roller is a small job. A bent track section is bigger.
- Single or double door. Double doors use heavier parts.
- How long it was run damaged. This is the big one. A snapped cable is a modest repair. A snapped cable that was forced up and down for a week has usually bent the track and damaged panels too.
- Age of the door. Very old hardware sometimes needs matching parts sourced.
If your door is behaving strangely, book it early. Almost every expensive garage door repair we see started as a cheap one that got ignored.
What you should not try yourself
Plenty of garage door jobs are fine for a handy homeowner — tightening a bolt, cleaning a sensor, oiling a hinge. These are not:
- Springs. Under extreme tension. Serious injury risk.
- Cables. They connect straight to the springs and carry the same load.
- A door that has come off track. It can fall. Doors are heavy enough to cause real harm.
Garage Door Repair — your questions answered
Is it worth repairing an old garage door?
Usually yes, if the panels are still solid. Springs, cables, rollers and hardware are all replaceable and cost far less than a new door. If the panels are rotted, rusted through or badly bent, replacement makes more sense.
How long does a repair take?
Most repairs are done in one visit, often within an hour or two. Bigger jobs like track replacement take longer.
Can you fix just one panel?
Often yes, if the door model is still available. On very old doors, matching panels can be hard to source, and we will tell you if that is the case.
